Splash No. 191 - Rest

Rest
I’ve been reading a lot of articles this week, for better or for worse. One talks about how a culture obsessed with winning makes us feel like we need to always be working to stay competitive. Another talks about living in a burnout society that always asks us to do more and more since we “can do anything.” I’ll take these as signs that it might be a nice time to take a quick little break for this week. I haven’t taken a week off since October, and I’m juggling a few other things in my life right now.
I’m not great and doing multiple things well at once, but even when I try to procrastinate on those things, I do a worse job of resting. Even if I spend many hours watching TikTok or Youtube, those don’t feel like Rest — time when I can simply be. One week away from writing won’t fix that, but it’s something I want to carry with me. How can I carve out the space to just be?
