Splash No. 201 - A Poem
A Poem
Life feels like a lot right now, a whirlwind maybe. So, I thought it made sense to keep things simple and share a poem I wrote this month about tornados. Hope you like it. We'll be back to normal letters soon.
i’m sitting on the windowsill
my legs dangling over the overgrowth
golden grass scratching ankles and
God is blowing Their nose, what a
beautiful sound, how could we name
it before we dreamed of trains that
connected everyone’s homes, was it
just the sound of a circle of clasped
hands turning, even the wind wants
to hold holds sometimes though they
sometimes twist her wrist — the sting
of being known and we’re flying now
and falling now higher and lower and
the grass has never looked so soft

POEM - "Ghosts (Homage to Burial)" by Emily Berry - "It’s like a Ouija board, it’s ... the devil’s face in their eyes, that feeling like a ghost touched you, like finding a body in a lift shaft on the other side of the night, even if you fight to see it, you’ll never see anything."
