A Holiday Gift Guide That You Probably Do Not Need
I’m following the trend of nearly every newsletter that I’m subscribed to and giving a list of holiday gift ideas largely based on the stuff that I like and use really often! Most people sent these out when it was still possible to get gifts in time for Christmas, but that takes much more planning than I had time for.
Keychron C1
A gift for anyone who works at a desk and uses a boring old keyboard
I got into mechanical keyboards a few years ago when I received a beautiful Qwerkywriter Keyboard as a gift a few years ago. The difference in typing experience is enormous and I find myself having less wrist pain from long days typing away. Since, I’ve gotten a couple of more keyboards, including this Keychron C1, which I use at the office every day. It’s pretty affordable, sounds great, and has fun LEDs. If you want to get more into the hobby, the Keychron V1 is much more customizable!
Resistance Bands
A gift for someone trying to work out more in the New Year
Not to be a “this changed my life” type of guy, but resistance bands truly changed my life in a meaningful way. During the Darkest Days Of The Pandemic™, weights and such were pretty expensive and I had so much free time. Armed with these rubber tubes and some YouTube videos from an extremely buff guy, I started working out consistently for the first time in my life. I learned to enjoy resistance training and gained a nonzero amount of muscle, so I can’t say enough good things. Also, strength training is really good for you.
Alaska Bear Sleep Mask
A gift for the sleep-deprived
If you need to know anything about me, it’s that I value sleep like a dragon values gold. If at all possible, I would manifest sleep into a physical form, terrorizing the local townspeople to gather as much of it as possible. So in college, when the gas station across from my apartment window was a frequent place where cops turned on their lights in the middle of the night (maybe because there was a Dunkin Donuts there), I was not a happy camper. After enough days of the boys in blue taking away my sweet slumber, I ordered a sleep mask, and now I can’t sleep without one. At this point, my simple brain just immediately gets tired as soon as I put it on because I’m no better than Pavlov’s dogs.
Men’s ThermoBall™ Traction Mules V
A gift for those who get cold feet
These are the stupidest things I own and it’s not even close. Also, I love them to death. Have you ever worn a puffer jacket and sensed your feet’s intense jealousy of your toasty torso? Well, then I have the weird shoe slipper for you. They’re fleece lined and super cozy, and the exterior is apparently waterproof. PLUS, the heel collapses down for the times that you’re too lazy to actually put on shoes. I’ve only had these for a few days and I can confirm they are super warm and cozy, albeit a little heavy.
I’d also love to hear anything that you might include in your own personal holiday gift guide. Happy Holidays!
