Another Off Week
I hate to not write a full newsletter again so close to the last one, but sometimes we’re just victims of circumstance. Adjusting back to school after spring break is a weird experience, which is only made worse by my TMD.
TMD is short for temporomandibular joint dysfunction, which just means my jaw joint isn’t working properly. It’s something that has bothered me now and then over the last few years, but it’s been worse recently. On Saturday, I woke up unable to open my mouth and had to spend some time massaging my face in order to accomplish the feat. Since then, I’ve been trying to undertake steps to improve it, but the general discomfort has made sleeping really difficult. Without sleep, I’m pretty much useless and I really couldn’t get anything done. I’m starting physical therapy to try and get things fixed. Hopefully it will resolve soon!
Either way, enjoy the links below and have a good weekend!
Drops of the Week
where I *drop* recommendations of cool things this week
Album
“Sound & Color” by Alabama Shakes - amazing album by an amazing band. Wikipedia says that blues rock is the genre, and I think that’s pretty fair.
Longread
“Beyond the Bitcoin Bubble” by Steven Johnson - excellent read about the potential of blockchain, great for understanding what all of that mumbojumbo you may have been hearing actually means. Reading this article made me understand why some people are so obsessed with crypto.
Visual Art
“The Colorful, Dancing, Psychedelic Cats of Louis Wain” by Alice Bucknell - pictures of cool cats. Need I say any more?
