"They love music and became music and no one could tell them otherwise. And then there’s me, with the many moments where my intentions to prioritize art, to prioritize other people, to prioritize anything fell apart in the face of a comfortable bed, or another YouTube video, or another hour doomscrolling." hard relate !!!!
i discovered ninajirachi recently from her set with porter robinson in sydney and i’m so obsessed with her nostalgic sound and storytelling. i love my computer is such a homage to that weird experience of growing up in the internet age which I found to relate so well to because I’m in that very same generation and literal same age and grew up partly in australia too but really a global citizen thanks to the internet.
im also aware porter robinson is a bit of a hero/inspiration figure to her and it’s such a cool coming of age story for your first concert to be at enmore theatre sydney to watch him, and many years later, she performs at enmore theatre sydney with a song she wrote with him. it’s super cool and porter too has that great botanical storytelling element (see: Nurture) which really shows how beautifully eloquent and narrative-driven electronic dance music can be :)
ah amazing! she’s incredible, and it’s always amazing when artists get to collaborate with their biggest inspirations. i felt a little something the first time travis scott collaborated with kid cudi or tyler the creator collaborated with pharrell.
